Millesime Brut is an unforgettable 50-50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with 20% of the base wine fermented in casks and oak barrels. It shows a robust structure and a full character. The wine’s richness and complexity are complemented by peppery aromas which remain through to the finish.
The 2010 Authentique Extra Brut is comprised of 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay with grapes from old vines of Aÿ (Grand Cru) and Romery, and aged 100% in oak barrel and cask for 8 years on the lees. This vintage wine offers an exhilarating complexity, powerful and ample, and well balanced with a delicate effervescence. It displays underlying woody aromas, with buttery and brioche notes. It earned a gold medal at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2021.
A tribute to its founder, Cuvée René is a signature wine of the esteemed Tribaut-Schloesser house. Aged patiently for five years, this Cuvée René Extra Brut is a blend of two exceptional terroirs: 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay is from Les Crayères in Romery and the Pinot Noir from Les Crossats in Ecueil (Premier Cru). The result is an ultra-rich introduction bursting with baked apple and pear with holiday spice and wrapped up in a finish that is full of brown butter, hazelnuts, and toast. Rich and long on the palate, this is a wine for wine lovers. It earned a Gold Medal Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
Brut Origine is an outstanding champagne that is the product of eight terroirs from the Marne Valley & Montagne de Reims. It features 50% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Noir. Three magnums [1.5L] of vintage California Pinot Noir, one each:
- Landmark 2000 Kastania Pinot Noir
- Martinelli 2004 Bondi Home Ranch Pinot Noir
- Martinelli 2004 Zio Tony Ranch Pinot Noir
The Martinelli Family has been farming land and growing grapes in Sonoma County for over 135 years, consistently providing their winemaking team with exceptional fruit. Some of its vineyards are among the steepest non-terraced parcels in all of Sonoma County. This results in wines that are deeply concentrated in flavor due to their exposure to the sun and ability to hang on the vine well into the harvest season because of the cooling slope winds. The current generation of Martinellis includes Regina who so charmingly represented the winery at L’Amour du Vin 2010 and made many long-term friends in our community. The first of the two Marinelli wines in this lot, Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough Vineyard 2004, hails from the Green Valley, a little-known Eden for Burgundian varietals. It sits at the southernmost tip of the Russian River Valley and was planted with Dijon clones by Lee Martinelli Sr. Wine Advocate gives a rating of 89 points and states that “The 2004 Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough Vineyard reveals aromas and flavors of pomegranate, berries, and spicy, meaty characteristics.”
The 2004 Martinelli “Zio Tony Ranch” is grown in the Russian River Valley vineyard. Among Sonoma County’s northernmost appellations, the Alexander Valley produces some of the state’s finest and most sought-after Pinot Noir. With a rating of 91 points Wine Spectator calls it “A Pinot with grace, finesse and polish, with layers of smoky, creamy cherry cobbler flavors, right down to the crust. Elegant and polished, it keeps repeating the tantalizing flavors.”
Landmark Vineyards was founded in 1974 in Windsor, California. In 1989, Damaris Deere Ford, became sole proprietor and relocated the winery to Sonoma Valley. Ford is a descendant of John Deere, founder of the world’s largest tractor manufacturer. In 1993, world-renowned consulting enologist Helen Turley was hired to work with former winemaker, Eric Stern. Landmark Vineyard’s mission is “to make great wines that enhance the joy of life.” The five-acre, seven-year-old Kastania vineyard is a hillside, sandy-loam and clayey bottomland site. It is in the fairly temperate zone of the cooler Sonoma Coastal appellation, also known for the quality of its Pinot Noir. 2000 saw a slow, balanced growing season and consequently a balanced vintage. The winemaker finds that this balance makes this Landmark Kastania a wine without the extremes of high alcohol or excessive acidity to interrupt its seamless suppleness. It has aromas are of subtle strawberry, rhubarb preserves, with chamois, bacony notes, and a woodsy scent of mushrooms. Wine.com gives a rating of 90 points.
These three magnums will provide a lovely tasting tour of Sonoma, California pinots for you and your friends in the comfort of your home.

Seven bottles [750mL] of European wine, one each; Bricco Rocche 1982 “Barolo,” Brunello di Montalcino 1982 “La Poderina,” Clos-Vougeot 1985 “Robert Arnoux,” Cordier Chateau 1988 Gruaud Larose, Leonetti Cellar 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley, and two bottles [750mL] Château Fombrauge 2000 Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
1982 Bricco Rocche “Barolo”: This wine comes from a small but prestigious parcel in the Barolo appellation. It benefits from perfectly favorable conditions for its growth and slow, late ripening: good exposure, well-drained soils, and plenty of sunshine. This wine has a pale red appearance, with – after a number of years’ aging – a few orange tints, notes of earth and leather, red and black berries, and flowers.
1982 Brunello di Montalcino “La Poderina”: Ruby red color with garnet notes. Intense, concentrated nose of black cherries, wild berries, and vanilla. On the palate, it is rich, full-bodied, quite tannic in youth, soft, and persistent. Best served with red and white roast meats, poultry, game, and aged cheese.
1985 Clos-Vougeot “Robert Arnoux”: Clos de Vougeot, located in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, is a prestigious and historically significant vineyard in the commune of Vougeot. Covering around 50 hectares, it is among Burgundy’s largest Grand Cru vineyards, with diverse soils and topography contributing to the complexity of its wines. Ownership is divided among various domaines and négociants, leading to variations in wine styles and quality. While Pinot Noir is the primary grape, small plantings of Chardonnay also contribute to Clos de Vougeot Blanc. As a Grand Cru vineyard, it holds the highest designation in Burgundy, reflecting its superior quality and status. Established by Cistercian monks in the Middle Ages, Clos de Vougeot has a storied past, passing through different religious orders and noble families over the centuries. Today, it is revered for producing some of Burgundy’s finest and most age-worthy red wines, celebrated for their depth, complexity, and ability to express the unique terroir of the vineyard.
1988 Cordier Chateau Gruaud Larose: A classic, old-school Saint-Julien, this Château Gruaud Larose offers a smorgasbord-like array of red and black fruits, saddle leather, cigar box, and smoke tobacco. Medium-bodied and nicely concentrated, with good mid-palate density, present tannins, and it sure brings plenty of character. It opens up nicely with time in the glass as well.
2006 Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley: This full-throttle Bordeaux blend is big, tight, and a bit hard but dense and concentrated. Here are blue and black fruits, layers of smoke, and bitter chocolate, yet a lifted floral scent is also there. In the finish, it feels chewy and substantial, with threads of cedar, cinnamon, and caramel woven among the darker, smoky notes. Robert Parker rates it a 95.
2000 Chateau Fombrauge Saint-Emilion Grand Cru (2 bottles): A revelation, this stunning wine is opaque purple-colored, with gorgeous ripeness and richness, a big, sweet mid-palate, and a seamless finish revealing loads of fruit, chocolate, glycerin, and ripe tannin. Robert Parker rates it a 91.
