Three bottles [750mL] 2012 FUTO wines, one each: OV | SL, Oakville Estate, and 5500 Stags Leap District Estate; PLUS, tour and tasting for 4.

Futo Wines began in 2002 when Tom and Kyle Futo purchased Oakford Vineyards, a 40-acre property with 7 acres of vineyard established in the 80’s. Expanding in 2004 to an adjoining 117-acre property, of which 6 acres were planted to vineyard under the direction of David Abreu and winemaker Mark Aubert, and in 2011 with the addition of a property in the eastern hills of Stags Leap District. The quality of FUTO wines is truly world-class and consistently receives high ratings by critics. Of the four wines produced from the winery’s estate properties, this lot includes a trio from their extraordinary 2012 vintage.

The FUTO OV | SL showcases the synergy of our two estate properties. At its core are co fermentations of fruit from these hillsides that we believe are perfect foils for one another. Oakville is imposing and impressive with its broad-shouldered stature, while Stags Leap is a timeless beauty with classic proportions. This wine is proof that 1+1 can equal 3. The 2012 OV starts floral with chiseled red fruits turning darker with smoky minerals and a savory perfume. Energetic on the palate, flavors are focused on black raspberries and cherries, loamy soil, herbs and tannin that melts into a long, suave finish. Elegant but authoritative, this wine has it all. Rated: RP – 94, Wine Spectator – 94.

A complex wine from a complex estate. The FUTO Oakville Estate Red Wine finds its feet with rich, sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon but leans heavily on Cabernet Franc for poise and finesse. Petit Verdot is layered in for good measure. The 2012 Opaque ruby-purple in color, the 2012 FUTO Oakville radiates complex aromas of lilac, brambly fruit, clove and charcoal.

Texturally, this is perhaps the most approachable young FUTO since the 2007. The tannins are perfectly interwoven into the dense core of blackberry and blueberry liqueur along with notes of mocha, truffle and cedar. A full-bodied wine that never gets heavy and finishes with energy and purity. Drink now through 2035. Rated: RP – 99, Wine Spectator – 91.
Reflecting its rocky volcanic hillside origins, the FUTO 5500 Stags Leap District Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is massively scaled but retains superb purity and energy. A timeless wine that resonates with refinement. The 2012 is an opulent wine with saturated purple color. Pure aromas of black cassis, kirsch, mulberry and violets. A wine of great intensity and presence, but freshness and precision. The oak is nearly all concealed by the fruit which is penetrating and supported by powdery tannins and perfect acidic tension. The finish is complex with an added mineral stain leaving no doubt this wine has the reserves to age for decades. Rated: RP – 99.

In addition, a tour and tasting for the winning bidder and three guests. Advance reservations required; expires 3/5/23.

Sixteen bottles [750mL] Martinelli Zinfandel: eleven Jackass Vineyard (1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013) and five Jackass Hill (2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2012).

The Martinelli Family has been farming land and growing grapes in Sonoma County for over 135 years, continuing their rich history and making them 6th generation wine growers and farmers. Planted in the 1880s by Giuseppi Martinelli, Jackass Hill is the steepest, non-terraced vineyard in Sonoma County, California and possibly the US. Its steepest section is a 60-65 degree slope. It’s illegal to plant anything over 30 degrees today. The Martinelli family always says, “you’d have to be a jackass to farm a hill that steep,” hence the name Jackass Vineyard. With a relentless pursuit of quality and total dedication to the craft, these ideals are shared across the team — from the vineyard to the tasting room – and are instilled in everything they do.

Now, the wines! Sixteen fabulous vintages of this longtime LDV favorite – here we go!

Jackass Vineyard: 1998–a beautiful, murky, plum/purple-color that offers scents of prunes, smoke, coffee, and assorted Asian spices…spectacularly rich, thick, and chewy, with low acidity. Rated 95 by Robert Parker, this wine’s 16+% alcohol is barely noticeable.

1999–extravagant…compelling….a beautiful opaque garnet/purple/plum color followed by an exotic bouquet of smoked Peking duck, plum sauce, blackberry and cherry liqueur, and Asian spices. This wine is very concentrated and rich but also dry and is balanced well. The finish is remarkably elegant. RP–92.

2002–displays an array of heavenly notes ranging from hues of earthy soil to hints of blueberry pie….offers a medium to deep garnet hue and a hint of charcuterie, raspberry tart, spice cake, and a waft of Chinese five spice…velvety texture and amazingly refreshing finish. RP–96.

2003–a classic dark plum/purple color, offering huge notes of dates; figs, brandy-macerated blueberries, blackberries, soy, smoke, and barbecue sauce on the palette. RP–95.

2006–offers a multitude of notes of smoked game, herbs, roasted meats, strawberries, and sweet currants… its animalistic/gamey character only adds to the complexity and multiple dimensions. RP–94.

2007–medium garnet-purple in color and offers a blockbuster nose of potpourri, cinnamon stick, star anise, sandalwood and Sichuan pepper with a core of fruitcake, blueberry preserves and a raspberry pie with a waft of dried herbs and cigar box. This super concentrated and unashamedly bold wine earned 98 from RP.

2008–a dark plum/garnet color, exudes a big nose of incense, camphor, smoked meats, herbs, forest floor and jammy strawberries as well as cherries; full-bodied, dry. RP–94.

2009–offers a symphony of tastes that include plums, exotic spices, tar, minerals, forest floor and black cherries. This powerful Zinfandel comes to life with layers of fruit flavors and an intense, deep finish.

2011–as thoughtful and profound as a Zinfandel can be. Deep plum color and notes of black fruits, licorice, fruitcake and spice; holds enormous body as well as a deep and velvety finish. RP–93.
2013– beautiful purple in color; dry and balanced wine offering notes of smoked duck, charcuterie spices, cola, blackberry, and cherry. RP–92.

Jackass Hill (2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2012)

2001–a beautiful medium garnet colored, full-bodied wine; bursts with notes of damp soil, ceps and truffles, stewed plums and a slight hint of spice box…well balanced and finishes long and chewy. RP–94.

2005–offers notes of herbs, roasted meats, and fresh game; beautifully full-bodied, dense, aromas boast crème de cassis notes mixed with incense. RP–96.

2007–a beautiful medium garnet color possessing a delightful nose of baked cherries, dried blueberries and mulberries with loads of earth, spice and incense nuances – soil, moss, crushed rocks and Indian spices – preserved citrus peel and rose hip accents; offers a plethora of earth and spice layers with a chewy tannins and a wonderful freshness. RP–99.

2012–boasts notes of figs, prunes, spice box, smoked meats, barbeque spices, blackcurrants and black cherries, full-bodied and dry. RP–96.

  • Four (750ml) bottles Aubert 2019 Chardonnay ‘Park Avenue Vineyard,’ Sonoma Coast
  • Four (750ml) bottles Aubert 2019 Pinot Noir ‘UV Vineyard,’ Sonoma Coast
  • Four (750ml) bottles Aubert 2019 Pinot Noir ‘UV – SL Vineyard,” Sonoma Coast
  • Four (750ml) bottles Aubert 2019 Pinot Noir ‘CIX Vineyard,” Sonoma Coast
  • Dinner for 12 to 16 people at location of winner’s choice prepared by Bistro by the Tracks Catering

Aubert Wines was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000. Before building his own winery, Mark Aubert made his wines at Colgin Cellars and the Custom Crush facility. While much of his fruit is sourced, Aubert owns 3.2 acres of vineyard land in Sonoma. This land is the source of their UV wines. Aubert wine is one of the best producers of California Chardonnay. They also make Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Prior to starting Aubert wine in 1999, Mark Aubert worked at some of the best wineries in California. He replaced Helen Turley at the Peter Michael Winery in Sonoma and he later replaced Helen Turley for the second time when he became the wine maker for the cult wine Colgin Cellars in Napa. Mark Aubert has also worked as consultant for some of the top California wineries including Sloan, Futo and Bryant Family. Given that resume, discussing the wines might seem somewhat incidental. Without going into a lot of detail, the Chardonnay, which is from a new single vineyard designate, was barrel tasted and rated 97 – 100 by Parker’s The Wine Advocate. The Pinots were rated 95 to 96+. A total of sixteen bottles of really good juice.

These wines will pair elegantly with the dinner that will be prepared by the Bistro by the Tracks Catering team. Your favorite place for the party, your friends, your favorite team to cater and simply some of the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Sonoma – you know you are in line for a fabulous party … if you can win the bid!

One magnum [1.5L] Harlan Estate 2016 Napa Valley Red Wine plus VIP visit and tasting for up to eight guests.

Harlan’s Estate Red is one of the most sought-after, highly-rated, and very, very good wine from Napa Valley. The vision of Harlan Estate is to produce a California “First Growth” from the hills of Oakville. H. William Harlan’s longtime and talents team is the reason for the exceptional wine – the creation of each vintage is dual effort of Director of Winegrowning Bob Levy of Levy & McCellan (another highly-sought after label) and winemaker Cory Empting who served a five-year apprenticeship under Bob (now also winemaker at BRAND – again, a sought-after brand). So, you get the idea. Their talents and expertise capture the best of what the AVA has to offer.

This one is a showstopper. The 2016 vintage – nothing short of perfection. Just ask James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, or Lisa Perrotti-Brown (of Wine Advocate)…all awarded this wine 100 points.

Per Wine Advocate: “The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Harlan Estate comes charging out of the glass, brandishing bold, opulent blackberry pie, warm cassis and blueberry preserves notes with hints of cigar box, Indian spices, crushed rocks and forest floor plus fragrant accents of lavender and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house, with a solid line of super ripe, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the layer upon layer of savory and earth-inspired notions, finishing on a lingering mineral note. Impressively structured, incredibly nuanced and possessing all this latent tension, this brazen beauty is set to live for a good 60 years and possibly more!”

Young, beautiful, a perfect ten – well, 100. You get the picture. But wait, there’s more! In addition to receiving this bottle, the winning bidder and seven guests will be treated to the beautiful hillside 240 acres of land at Harlan Estate, for a tour and tasting known to be one of the most luxurious tastings in Napa – by invitation only. Mutually agreeable date; weekends and holidays unavailable. Expires 3/5/2023.

Exclusive lunch and tasting for 8 hosted by Pulido~Walker Proprietors Mark Pulido and Donna Walker at the winery’s Policy Estate Vineyard in Yountville; PLUS, four 2019 magnums [1.5L], one each: Mt. Veeder Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Melanson Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Policy Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mt. Veeder Estate Chardonnay.

Proprietors Mark Pulido and Donna Walker have a long history in Napa Valley, building relationships and putting down roots in the community. Both grew up in pharmacy families and this early common experience make Mark and Donna precise, inquisitive, and detailed. From the beginning, they have had the commitment and endurance—never mind the conviction to their principles—either to bottle only the very best lots or to completely reframe the experiment. The patient journey to “purse the possible” guides their tenacious commitment to striving for perfection of every element in single-vineyard designate wines.

Under the watchful eye of winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, Mark and Donna chose three remarkable vineyard sites where the natural alchemy of geography, soil, climate, and clone yield a wine greater than the sum of its parts. Included in this lot are wines from the 2019 vintage of each of their single-vineyard wines. Despite a particularly low fruit yielding harvest, nature was generous quality, if not quantity, which makes these wines even more special.

After losing their incredible home atop Mt. Veeder during the devastating 2017 Napa Valley fires, Mark and Donna purchased their Yountville estate vineyard, named Policy, in 2019 expanding their ownership of designated single vineyards in Napa Valley to four. The other vineyards include Mt. Veeder Estate, Melanson on Pritchard Hill, and Panek Vineyard in St. Helena. This lot showcases a horizontal of Pulido~Walker’s 2019 vintage, which includes the debut vintage of Policy Estate Cabernet Sauvignon made entirely under Mark and Donna’s watch. Rated 95 by critic Jeb Dunnuck who also awarded the 2019 Mt. Veeder 99 and Melanson 98+. Does it get better than this!? Yes!

For the lucky winning bidder and seven guests an exclusive experience by invitation only – an exclusive lunch hosted by Mark Pulido and Donna Walker at their remarkable new Policy Estate Vineyard in Yountville, Napa Valley, which is available by invitation only (not open to the public).

What a spectacular showcase of perseverance and opportunity to meet with the vintner themselves! What are you waiting for? Bid!

Mutually agreeable date; must be booked in advance. Expires 3/5/2023.

  • Dinner for up to 12 people to be held at a location to be chosen by the winning bidder
  • Dinner will be prepared by Bistro by the Tracks Catering

Spottswoode is one of Napa’s most historic and beautiful wineries, famous for its world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. The founding of the estate reaches back nearly 140 years, and the current owners, the Novak family daughters, have been mindful stewards for five decades as of this year. It is the 40th anniversary of the production of Spottswoode wine. There have been a lot great wineries in Napa over the past half century, but very few of them that have been around the whole period are still owned by the same family that started them. The Novak family is a rare exception. Yes, vines were already on the property when it was purchased in 1972, but they were very different. The whole property was replanted after it was acquired.

Finding Spottswoode Estate Cabernet in double magnums (3L) is quite unusual. Sourcing a 4-year vertical of double magnums each is nearly impossible. Particularly when 3 of the four vintages rated a perfect 100-point score from Parker’s The Wine Advocate. The “off year” only managed a measly 97+. Because you will want something lighter to start, the 4-year magnum vertical of Sauvignon Blanc will get your palate ready for the blockbuster tasting of Cabernet Sauvignon coming later. The four vintages of Sauvignon Blanc were rated in the low to mid-90’s.

The Spottswoode family have always been very gracious and very generous supporters of L’Amour du Vin. They have been the featured vintner on multiple occasions. In the year of their 50th anniversary on the property and 40th anniversary of producing wines, it is only fitting that LdV features a lot in their honor. It is also very appropriate and fitting that the Burleson family, who have been huge supporters of LdV since its inception, be the donors of this lot. Thank you, and well done!

Three magnums [1.5L] Accendo Cellars 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon PLUS with wine pairings for 6 at legendary vintners, the Araujos’ Wheeler Farms Winery in St. Helena.

An opportunity you cannot find anywhere else – meet legendary vintners Bart and Daphne Araujo. Undoubtedly among the elite Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Napa Valley, the Araujo family is known for creating the most sought-after wines in all of Napa, time and time again.

For 23 years, Bart and Daphne owned Eisle Vineyard, arguably the most vaunted vineyard in Napa Valley whose name is cemented in Napa folklore. After building Araujo into one of the most famous wines in Napa, the couple sold it to Chateau Latour and started a new vineyard – Accendo. The winery makes fine wine from across the valley, emulating both the approach and style of Napa winemakers of the 1970s. Bart and Daphne are now joined by their children Greg and Jamie, who serve as brand ambassadors, and the label has achieved great success. Each vintage sells out immediately and the winery has a coveted mailing list. Included in this lot are three glorious magnums of Accendo Cellars 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon – rated 98 by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, 97 by James Suckling, and 96 by Wine Spectator: “Richly layered, with ripe and caressing cassis, plum preserves, boysenberry reduction and açaí berry fruit flavors. There’s a chocolate backdrop and alluring toast notes throughout, with a subtle graphite edge on the very fine-grained finish to keep this red honest. A beautiful display of fruit and very Oakville in style.*Highly Recommended*.”

For the lucky winning bidder and five guests, the Araujos have agreed to host a unique and truly once-in-a-lifetime experience to meet this famous winemaking family who will host lunch with wine pairings at their beautiful property Wheeler Farms Winery in St. Helena, California.

An opportunity to connect with a family whose historical significance (and fabulous wines) in Napa Valley are immeasurable – AND three glorious magnums to enjoy now? Wowza!

Six-magnum [1.5L] vertical Vineyard 7 & 8 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (2013- 2018)

Two-time featured L’Amour du Vin winery Vineyard 7 & 8, was founded by the Steffens family in 1999 and named after proprietor Launny Steffens’ life and background in the world of finance with a theme encompassed by numerics, and a keen interest in numerology — “seven” being a number of luck in western culture, while “eight” follows the meanings of prosperity and happiness in eastern culture — Vineyard 7 & 8 is the culmination of the family’s pursuit for producing fine wines including 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Martha McClellan, winemaker for many notable brands, joined Vineyard 7 & 8 as Winemaker in 2014. Working alongside Associate Winemaker Wesley Steffens (Launny’s son and beloved friend to many longtime LDV patrons). Her inaugural 2014 vintage with Vineyard 7 & 8 earned high marks from critics – 95 points from both Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. The wine is a deep garnet-purple color, perfumed with violets and lavender over blueberries plus mossy bark, forest floor, stewed tea and dried herbs; finishes long and mineral tinged.

The 2015, also deep garnet-purple, was rated 96 points by Wine Enthusiast and 97+ points by Wine Advocate – bombastic nose of crème de cassis, plum preserves, blueberry pie, and Indian spices with touches of earth, tobacco, meat, and wood smoke; full, rich, layered and packed with fruit.

The 2016 was the product of a near perfect growing season. A more savory focus than past vintages, with notes of Chinese five spice, bittersweet chocolate ganache, white pepper; dark fruit, and earthy layers with hints of forest floor, cigar box, and crushed cherries. Again, a beautiful deep purple-black. This vintage was rated 94-97 points by Wine Advocate and 92-95 points by Anotonio Galloni.

The 2017 is a deep garnet-purple color and has a slightly closed nose of baked red and black cherries. Rated 92 by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, this wine is delightful with a full-bodied, earthy finish.

The 2018 offers a wealth of complex aromatics sure to please Cabernet aficionados. Nuances of black currant, black cherry, menthol, white pepper, cherry liqueur, and raw tobacco on the nose. The wine is bright, exuding both power and restraint. The tannins are powerful, yet well‐integrated, finishing very long. A nuanced and seductive wine that will show very well with a quick decant upon release, and will age beautifully for 15‐20+ years. Earned 95-97+ points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

The earliest vintage in this lot, 2013, offers notes of sweet, ripe fruits, with black raspberry and blueberry notes and a floral finish. This delightful wine was rated 93 points from Robert Parker and can be enjoyed over the next 2-3 decades.
Wesley and Martha promise all six wines will evolve in the cellar for years to come. Don’t miss the opportunity to take home this special large-format collection and show our appreciation to Wes and his parents for many years of amazing support! Bid!

ROAR specializes in small lots, but you know the juice is great because of the many great winemakers sourcing fruit for competing labels. Gordon Cheung (b. London, 1975), Augury 4, 2021, financial newspaper, archival inkjet, acrylic, and sand on paper, 32 5/8 x 23 1/4 x 1 1/3 inches.

Creating dense collages from materials as varied as paint skins and sand, and drawing on a wide range of visual sources, Gordon Cheung produces epic, magical images. Sometimes, as here, those materials and images meaningfully overlay the stock listings from the Financial Times. Augury 4 is from the artist’s Augury series, a series of floral still lifes that addresses contemporary concerns of art historical ideologies while raising questions of written history and perception of identity. The wild fauna and sprawling blossoms in this work also address modern-day ecological concerns. Gordon’s studio produced the Augury series in conjunction with art advisors Coates & Scarry and the U.S.-based nonprofit International Chinese Fine Arts Council to benefit a scholarship fund advancing social justice for Asian Americans. Augury 4 was included in Cheung’s recent solo show at C Project in Los Angeles.

Born in 1975 in London to Chinese parents, Gordon Cheung graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting in 1998 from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London and earned his Masters of Fine Arts in 2001 from the Royal College of Art. He has had solo shows at Edel Assanti and Cristea Roberts Gallery in London, Jack Shainman Gallery in New York, and Leila Heller Gallery in Duba, and will have a solo show at Almine Rech in Paris in 2022. His works are included in the collections of the Hirshhorn Museum, British Museum, Whitworth Art Museum in Manchester, Royal College of Art in London, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and the Knoxville Museum of Art, and UBS, HSBC, and Microsoft among others. He lives and works in London.

  • Dinner for 16 people at the home of Rob and June Heller prepared by Chef Robert McDonald

Michael Browne is a rock star whenever he becomes involved with Pinot Noir. The founding winemaker of Kosta Browne Winery proved when he and Dan Kosta started business that he could extract tremendous flavors from the grape. He has stated that he makes a “California” Pinot Noir and is not trying to compete with French Burgundy for style and elegance. Kosta Browne became almost a cult wine which was virtually impossible to find unless you were on their long mailing list. Many of you will also remember the 2014 L’Amour du Vin. Kosta Browne, along with Realm (Juan Mercado’s now hugely popular label) and CIRQ (Michael Browne’s then new brand) paired up with the mesmerizing cuisine of Patrick O’Connell from the Inn at Little Washington. What a party that was!

Today, Michael still produces CIRQ for his own winery and a new label, Chev. He states: “At the end of the day, my quest is simple – to craft the most delicious wine possible.” Anyone who has tasted his great Pinots know that he is very successful at achieving that goal. Although these wines normally bring mid-90’s ratings, he was awarded Wine Spectator #1 Wine of the year in 2011 with a Kosta Browne wine that rated just above 95. So, your real guide is the wine you know Michael produces.

Your hosts for the evening will be this year’s L’Amour du Vin Chairs June and Rob Heller. With over 100 pieces of art and a beautiful view of the Tennessee River, the Heller home is an interesting place to visit… one of the two major pieces of art in the backyard might be spinning around, not because you will have had a lot of wonderful wine during your dinner but because of wind coming off of the lake. The couple will surely give your guests a tour of their impressive collection!

Now, pair that great wine and spectacular hosts with the top-notch cuisine from the Bistro by the Tracks chefs led by Robert McDonald, and it will truly be a night to remember.

An insider’s excursion in the heart of Bourbon Country for 2 couples hosted by wine and whiskey makers Mark and Sherri Carter

Join Mark and Sherri Carter, founders and makers of Old Carter Whiskey Co., for an immersive bourbon experience like no other on the Bourbon Trail in the great state of Kentucky!

Mark and Sherri have been making 100-point wines in Napa Valley since 1998. After decades of highly acclaimed releases under their labels Carter Cellars and Envy Estate, they took their talents to Kentucky in 2011 and jumped into the whiskey business, creating two highly sought after brands in the last 10 years – Kentucky Owl and Old Carter Whiskey Co.

This incredible whiskey-lovers experience will begin on the “Urban Bourbon Trail” in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Hosts Mark and Sherri will escort two lucky couples on a bourbon-drenched tour right in the heart of Whiskey Row. The excursion will begin at your lodging, the luxurious Omni Hotel located downtown. From there, you will head over just three blocks to explore Whiskey Row and the downtown area, starting with the beautiful Old Carter Showroom for a private tasting of the Old Carter line up featuring both library selections and current offerings. This stop includes a tour of the brand new Old Carter Social Club as well! Lovingly restored by Mark and Sherri in a 1880s historic downtown building, the Social Club is a private club where Old Carter lovers relax and sip on special OC release whiskies from their very own locker collections.

Next, head to lunch a block away at Merle’s Whiskey Kitchen for authentic barbeque – a very “local” scene with a very extensive whiskey selection! After this stop, you will have the option to enjoy tastings at Old Forrester, Evan Williams and/or Michter’s distilleries, with an option to tour at any of these locations, time permitting!

Then, retire to the Omni to relax before dinner with the Carters at Bob’s Steakhouse located conveniently downstairs at the hotel later that evening.

The next day, board a private van in the morning to head over to Millville in Woodford County for a tour of the beautiful Castle & Key Distillery. This gorgeous 88-acre estate has been lovingly restored by the C&K team and is a feast for the eyes and senses! After C&K, back on the bus to head to the charming town of Bardstown, where you’ll have lunch at The Kitchen at Bardstown Bourbon Company and tour their incredible state-of-the-art facility. After the tour, head into the town of Bardstown for a walk in the historic downtown for some local shopping with stops at the Blind Pig Gift Shop and their Speakeasy, if you are thirsty! Then, bus back to Louisville to the Omni to relax before dinner at 211 Clover, a wonderful French Bistro beloved by Mark and Sherri. There you will enjoy a stellar line up of Carter Cellars wines from their own private library! Finally, return to the Omni for good-byes and maybe one last nightcap at Bob’s at the group’s discretion.

And, for the lucky winning bidder(s) the Carters have included two private release bottles [750mL] of bourbon from Old Carter Whiskey Co. – very small-batch, single barrel, and impossible to find… just ask Rob Heller!

Five-magnum [1.5L] vertical Horsepower Vineyards The Tribe Vineyard Syrah (2012-2016)

Located in the Stones of the Walla Walla Valley, Horsepower Vineyards is about tradition and history making. Christophe Baron, the eldest son of the centuries-old Champagne house, understands the importance of tradition. The family has worked their land in the Marne Valley of France since 1677. Keeping tradition alive, Christophe Baron founded both Cayuse and Horsepower Vineyards, to honor the simplicity of craftmanship and purpose that has been largely lost in the modern translation.

Horsepower Vineyards is a window to the Old World – right here in the new. Christophe Baron was not only the first vigneron to plant successful vineyards in the Stones of the Walla Walla Valley and use biodynamic farming-methods, but also the first to use horses for cultivation. Today, six horses with their teamsters, cultivate tightly spaced, 19th century-style vineyards that only they can navigate, using specialized farming equipment created by a blacksmith in Burgundy, France. On any given day at Horsepower Vineyards, the sound you’re most likely to hear is the hoofbeat of tradition, played and preserved on the stones of Horsepower.

The five magnums included in this lot are front, The Tribe Vineyard, which constitutes three acres of vineyard planted one vine per stake (spacing is 3.5 feet by 3.5 feet, totaling 3,555 vines per acre). Although library vintages have not been rated, recently vintages have scored high and this wine is quickly become one of the top-rated in Walla Walla Valley. A perfect addition to your collection!

Four bottles [750mL] Leonetti Cellar 2016 Single Vineyard Series one each Mill Creek Upland, Loess, Holy Roller, and Serra Pedace in wood box PLUS a spot on Leonetti Cellar Mailing List.

Leonetti Cellar was founded by Gary and Nancy Figgins in 1977 as Walla Walla, Washington’s first commercial winery. Gary’s grandparents Francesco and Rosa Leonetti first came to the Walla Walla Valley in the early 1900s, and their farm is where Gary would come to plant his first commercial vineyard in 1974 and unknowingly establish an entire industry for the valley. Building off the inspiration he gleaned from his grandfather’s bubbling fermentations on the farm’s dirt floor basement, Gary honored his family’s roots by naming the winery Leonetti Cellar. Through these experiences, Gary’s son and current owner Chris acquired a certain perspective and reverence for his family heritage that guides him to this day.

This lot includes four bottles of Leonetti Cellar 2016 Single Vineyard series in a wood box plus a spot on Leonetti Cellar’s coveted mailing list. Each vintage in this series, much like the wine itself, is a uniquely crafted piece of artwork. Rated by Robert Parker: 2016 Mill Creek Upland–95, 2016 Loess–93, 2016 Holy Roller–93, and 2016 Serra Pedace–94. The ratings say it all! Enjoy this delightful series and a spot on the Leonetti Cellar mailing list!
