Winemaker Michael Browne, a consummate craftsman and co-founder of Kosta Browne in 1997, continues to push boundaries in his pursuit of creating personal connections through his wines. In 2009, he launched CIRQ, driven by his passion for crafting exceptional wines from the Russian River Valley’s finest sites. Inspired by his childhood circus-performing days, Michael brings the same intense study, balance, and finesse to CIRQ—blending only the highest quality fruit from the region’s prime vineyards.
His latest project, CHEV, reflects his deep appreciation for old-school workmanship. From classic cars to vintage clocks, CHEV is a tribute to an era when artisans forged by hand, transforming the raw into something masterfully precise. Crafted in a style all its own, CHEV is unbound by region, drawing from exceptional vineyards near and far.
In 2018, Michael and his wife, Sarah, fulfilled their dream of building a family winery, Browne Family Wines, where CIRQ and CHEV remain the sole focus.
Sarah plays a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience. With a deep passion for hospitality, she ensures that every visitor to the winery develops an authentic connection with the brand. Together, Michael and Sarah have created an estate that is as personal as it is breathtaking—a hilltop gem in the heart of the Russian River Valley, surrounded by sweeping 360-degree views.
